Creative Adventures
I believe in the importance of down time. Often during these periods I get involved in creative adventures just for the fun of it.
Recently I came across these dried Shak Shak seed pods, their curvaceous forms were crying out for a creative journey. I painted a few and then, with floral genius Poppy Vincent of Vincent and Stubb Flowers, decided to create an enormous head dress for the legendary Bongo from Sandy Lane beach, Barbados. Bongo’s dreadlocks are 8ft long, we could not have asked for a better model. We caused quite a stir on the beach.

Beach Combing
One of life’s greatest pleasures is just to stroll down a wild and windy beach collecting all that the sea has brought to the shore line.
On the east coast of Barbados shells are abundant and I am always collecting them. I took a selection of ring and earring findings on holiday with me this time and ended up making a natural shell collection of rings and earrings. It was not long before all holiday makers on Sandy Lane were all wearing them.
Paper Collage
I was massively inspired by an exhibition I saw in NYC of paper collage artist Ashley Bryan. I decide to give it a go.
The process was more complicated than I imaged, often the case! Its fiddly too, however seeing the layers take shape, adding character and feasting on the colours made for a very rewarding day. I strongly recommend a play with paper.
