Sculpture

As a sculptor Celia finds immense creative energy taking stone and sculpting a form to represent an idea, a feeling or a memory in her life. Her one constant in her career has always been sculpting, ‘I am passionate about form and colour’. She trained in the workshop of Stephen Cox in Mahabalipuram, India and went on to produce a body of work including stone carving and coloured castings. Celia has exhibited widely in both the UK and France and continues to enjoy the creation of sculpture.

TOTEM

TOTEM, her latest sculpture collection, is an invitation to make your own journey with the mysteries of crystal gemstones and Totem symbolism. Celia was introduced to crystal stones by a healer and was captivated by their ancient geological story and their natural array of colours.  ‘I collected many and decided that for maximum appreciation they needed to be viewed collectively in an elegant, harmonious formation; the mysticism inherent around totems and crystal stones seemed the perfect union.

Celia sources and chooses each precious gemstone for quality, colour and for that intangible element of curiosity these incredible stones capture and convey. She works out their harmony and their relationship to one another to create a grounding force in each unique piece.

Crystal gemstones are formed from minerals in the ground that have consolidated over thousands, sometimes millions of years.

Stone Carving

It was during her time in southern France Celia began her career sculpting in stone. She trained in Stephen Cox’s workshop in Mahabalipuram, India and went on to complete a 6 month sculpting project in Jaipur.

She continued carving from her workshop in France working in granite, marble, alabaster and local limestone. She exhibited widely in both France and the UK. She found immense creative energy taking stone and creating highly tactile and often sensuous forms representing a feeling or a memory in her life.
